Times Tables
The aim of the Times Tables Awards scheme is to help children learn their times tables and to make the recall of their times tables second nature. The teaching of times tables in school is supplemented through weekly homework set on Maths Shed.
Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards (up to 12 x 12)
Bronze – tables can be said in order, by rote or in pattern (e.g. 1x3=3, 2x3=6, 3x3=9 or 3,6,9,12, etc.)
Silver – tables can be said out of sequence (e.g. 4x3=?, 7x3=?, 8x7=?, etc.)
Gold – tables can be said in reverse
(e.g. 4x?=12, 3x?=24, 24÷3=?, etc.)
Children will start this in Year 2 or when their teacher feels they are ready! Children will normally complete their bronze certificate before moving onto their silver award and so on.
