World Mental Health Day - Hello Yellow 2021

On Friday 8th October 2021, the whole school took part in 'Hello Yellow day'. This day was all about the children supporting their own mental health and well-being whilst in school. Below are the different activities each year group took part in!

Early Years

Today we celebrated World Mental Health Day by coming to school dressed in yellow. We talked about how we keep our bodies healthy but how it is just as important to keep our minds healthy. We took part in a range of mindfulness activities including cloud watching, breathing exercises, peer massage and yoga.

In year 1 and 2 we supported mental health day by mixing the classes and talking about the importance of keeping your mind and yourself happy and different ways to promote this. We split into three groups and had the opportunity to paint, draw, colour, join in with provision and yoga. The children listened to soothing music throughout and they all had big smiles on their faces. The children could talk about what makes them happy.

Year 3 and 4 spent the afternoon taking part in a series of different activities, to support their positive mental health and well-being in school. This consisted of activities such as whole class yoga, drawing and mindfulness colouring. We discussed the importance of taking time to reflect and relax during each week and encouraged a creative and positive personal attitude.

Year 5 and 6 spent an hour outside together, completing exercises/games of their choice. We spoke about the importance of exercise for our mental health, as well as our physical health. To support their wellbeing, UKS2 had the choice of the activity that they would most enjoy taking part in. Children took part in: a football game, gymnastics and other team games.

Year 5

In Year 5, we made paper plate suns while talking about the things that made us happy.

Year 6:

Year 6 also chose to either complete a mindfulness colouring sheet or create their own drawing. They are a very creative classed and loved spending time sitting with their friends and completing some colouring activities.
