Learning to shine together

Comic Relief 2022

On Friday 18th March, we raised money for Comic Relief and celebrated Red Nose Day by wearing non-uniform or Comic Relief themed clothes. We also wore Comic Relief accessories, including red noses which our School Council sold in school. We asked for a donation of £1 for our non-uniform day.

We also had an off-timetable day with lots of fun included. All classes held a ‘red nose and spoon race’. Children competed in House teams to try and get their red nose from one end of a course to the other on a spoon. The course differed in each class.

Our House Captains and Vice Captains also ran a competition called ‘make your own red nose’ which each child could enter. They judged these on Friday and will announce the winners on Monday.

Early Years

Key Stage 1

Year 1

In Year 1 we supported RND by completing a nose and spoon race, the children enjoyed working their way around an obstacle course and showed great perseverance when trying to balance the nose on the spoon. We spoke about the importance of supporting charities like Comic Relief and found out who they help with the money that we raise. Some of us even had a go at designing our own red noses on the laptops.

Year 2

The children enjoyed supporting RND. We found out more information about why we support Red Nose Day and what we can do to help and fundraise. The children created their own noses and we even competed in our houses in a nose and spoon race! The children absolutely loved manoeuvring around the obstacle course.

Lower Key Stage 2

Year 4

The children enjoyed supporting Red Nose Day on Friday. We found out more information about why we support this special event every year and what we can do to help and fundraise. The children in Year 4 took part in different activities throughout the day, such as team quizzes, creating their own noses and competing in our houses, in our very own nose and spoon race! The children had a great time!

Upper Key Stage 2

Year 5

In Drama, Year 5 completed lots of different challenges related to Red Nose Day. The children had to create a funny photo. They did this individually and as a group. They also played lots of games in teams to win points. The winning team received a 'Friday night in' box courtesy of Ceri. The winning team were the Peppa Pigs - you can see them with their treats below.

Later in the day, they took park in their red nose and spoon races in their house teams. They had lots of fun trying to carry their red nose through the obstacle race.

During this art learning, the children created 3D red nose minibeasts to link to our topic. See if you can guess the minibeasts they created.

Year 6

For Comic Relief 2022, the children in Year 6 kindly donated £1 to wear non-uniform, including Red Nose Day merchandise. They started the day by taking part in the Comic Relief Quiz, which was all laughter and nose related.

The children then completed an activity booklet which was all Comic Relief themed. Some of the children designed their own red noses.

Later in the morning, the house captains set up a small obstacle course for each house, for the red nose and spoon races. The children loved taking part in these and were also brilliant at cheering on the other members of their houses!
