Sports Days 2019
On Wednesday 3rd July, our Early Year's children competed in a range of field events and races against each other whilst being in our House Teams. The children wore their coloured t-shirts with pride. The events were:
- Javelin
- Howler
- Target Throw
- Sprint Equipment Collect
- Speedbounce
- Hoop Throw
Following these field events, the children then competed in races. These were:
- Sprints
- Hurdles
Following these track events, the children sat in their House Teams to find out the results. The results were:
Einstein: 601 House Points
Hawking: 567 House Points
Mandela: 615 House Points
Teresa: 634 House Points
Congratulations to Teresa who were the overall winners of this element of our House Competition.
On Thursday 4th July, we hosted our Key Stage 1 and 2 Sports Day. During the morning, the children took part in competitive games. Each pair of classes (Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4, Years 5 and 6) mixed together and then split into House Teams. They played games of 3-in-a-Bucket, Football and even some Kurling. The teams received 50 House Points for a win, 25 House Points for a draw and 10 House Points for a loss. The results were...
Einstein: 260 House Points
Hawking: 370 House Points
Mandela: 320 House Points
Teresa: 290 House Points
In the afternoon on Thursday 4th July, we hosted our more traditional Sport's Afternoon. All the children across Key Stage 1 and 2 wore their House colours with pride to compete in events against other children in their class. These scores were then added together to get a combined total for each House. The children took part in field events:
- Javelin
- Howler
- Long Jump
- Speedbounce
- Target Throw
- Shot Put
They also chose which races (if any) they would like to compete in:
- Sprint
- Long Distance (1 lap of the field for Year 1 and 2, 2 laps of the field for Year 3 and 4, 3 laps of the field for Year 5 and 6)
- Mixed Relays
This year, nearly all the children competed in their class relays - making a close competition! It was a fantastic afternoon and provided a fitting end to our House Competitions for the year. The results for KS1/2 Sport's Afternoon were:
Einstein: 1805 House Points
Hawking: 1875 House Points
Mandela: 1573 House Points
Teresa: 1868 House Points
There were just 7 points between the winners and second place - a very close call! Congratulations to Hawking who won this element of our House Points competition.
Parents V Staff
To finish our Key Stage 1 and 2 Sport's Afternoon, we took held a Staff V Parents Race. Fourteen willing parents lined up against seven of our eager staff to race against each other in a mixed relay. After a slow start, the staff team won - congratulations to all the staff!!
