Science Week 2019
w.c. 11th March 2019
For Science Week 2019, Barnburgh decided to celebrate all things Science, in their topic learning time. From science lessons that linked to the children's current topics to amazing science experiments for each year group, the children loved being scientists for the week!
Nursery - Growing Experiment
Nursery planted beans in bags with water and placed them on the window to watch them grow.
Reception - All About Plants!
Reception learned to name the parts of a plant, what plants need to grow and about the life cycle of different plants. We had great fun!
Year 1 - Experiments
Year 1- Coke and Mentos experiment
Year 1- Coke and Mentos experiment.
Year 1 - Science Week - Craters on the moon
Year 1: How are craters made on the moon? In year 1, we investigated how craters are made on the moon and what impact different objects have. We looked at the height of the drop and the weight of the objects to see what difference it would make to the craters.
Year 3 - Science Week - Forces/Gravity (linked with PSHE - staying healthy/germ control)
Experimenting with how far a sneeze travels
Year 3 - Science Week- Healthy Nutrition
Are sugary foods the right type of nutrition for us? Do you know how much sugar is in foods you eat everyday!?
Year 3 - Science Week- Forces
We experimented with magnets to find out about non-contact forces. We made temporary magnets out of needles and then turned them into our own compasses! We also checked different metals to test which ones where magnetic
Year 4 - Science Week - Sound
After learning all about how sounds are made from the air molecules vibrating and creating sound waves, Year 4 investigated ways to see and feel the vibrations, as well as hearing the sound.
Year 4 - Science Week - States of matter
Year 4 - Changing States of Matter
Year 4 - Water Cycle
Year 5 - How are craters made on the moon?
Year 6 - How does the eye work? What are optical illusions?
