Learning to shine together

RespectCouragePerseveranceAmbitionIndependence

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Week 2020 and the theme of kindness, we are encouraging primary schools to get mentally healthy by spreading a little kindness.

This calendar, designed to be used throughout Mental Health Awareness Week, encourages pupils to do two acts of kindness each day – one for someone else and one for themselves.

Depending on the age of the children, there are two calendars included. One has two suggested kindness activities for each day, which is best for giving to younger children, or using as an example for older children. The other calendar is blank for older children to complete with their own ideas.

Riley (Year 5) has been completing an act of kindness each day, including: making his mum and dad a cup of tea, writing a letter to mate his Auntie smile and handing out his chocolate cornflake buns to his neighbours

Georgia, in Year 5, has been baking at home and then handed them out to her friends and neighbours

Seth Y3 and his sister Nell

Seth and Nell prepared bunches of flowers and attached tags. They delivered these to all the neighbours who lived on their street.

Bobby Y3 and Bella YN

Bobby and Bella were inspired by our origami hearts that we made during Zoom. They went away and made lots and lots. They wrote messages inside these for members of their family.

An act of kindness for our community

We received an email today from Emily in year 2 offering to make protective masks for any members of our school staff who would like one to help keep everyone safe. She is helping her mum to make them for other members of the community too.

How kind Emily thank you!
