LQ: What is parenthesis and how can it be used in a narrative?

Read the narrative extract. Identify the places where brackets, commas or dashes have been used to punctuate parenthesis. Parenthesis is an extra bit of information, at the end or the middle of the sentence, that can be added or taken away and the sentence would still make sense. A range of brackets, commas and dashes can be used to punctuate parenthesis. 

E.g.

For IW - write a section of your portal narrative and include parenthesis in this paragraph.
