4.4.2020 - 19.4.2020 - Easter Holidays!

Once this week of home learning is over on Friday, for 2 weeks, it is then your Easter holiday.

I am sure it will feel very strange for most of us and won't be like the Easter holidays we are used to, but I want you to make the most of it and have the best time you can. Enjoy a break from the home learning and fill your time with family activities and maybe Easter themed activities.

Remember to keep in touch with me over email and I would love to hear all about your Easter holidays and see pictures of what you have been doing.
Happy Easter Year 5!

Stargazers Topic Home Learning

We have been looking at this topic during the Spring Term

Stargazers - innovate: To complete our 'Stargazers' topic, in class we have started our innovate project of designing a rocket which can be launched. Please find below the innovate project board, which the children are aware of. They have already designed and labelled their own rocket.

At home, have a go at making the rocket that they have designed and launch them in your garden. Photograph the finished rocket and video the launch of the rocket, if possible. Use baking soda and vinegar to launch the rockets.

Allotment Topic Home Learning

Choose from the home learning menu below. We will be looking at this topic during the Summer Term

Maths Scheme of Learning

White Rose Maths - White Rose is the Maths scheme which we follow in school when planning our daily maths lessons. For the purpose of school closures, White Rose have set up a Home Learning page which parents/carers can access for work for their children.

The Maths work which is on there is in line with what the children would now be learning, if they were attending school. We believe that this will continue to be updated as time goes on, for as long as necessary.

This is a brilliant Maths resource to keep the children on track and up to date with their maths learning for their Year group.

Maths Diagnostic Questions

Diagnostic Questions - all the questions on this web page link to the White Rose Maths scheme of learning.

The children's login details have been sent home, along with EdShed logins (for spelling and maths). If you are unable to locate them please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail.

Space Narrative

Our next writing unit is a space narrative. The children have completed a drama activity to inspire their narratives.

The narrative must start with their character(s) landing in space and facing some sort of problem. The aim/ending should be them returning to their home planet. The problem can be absolutely anything space related e.g. rocket crash, meeting aliens, landing on the wrong planet etc.

As part of their home learning, the children can plan and write their narrative.
