Autumn 2 - Potions
Engage Activity: We kick started our 'Potions' topic by following an intriguing trail that had been left in our hall. We went along the track to see what we could see. From the images below, you can see we found a book, some playing cards, character cards, a white rabbit, a pocket watch and a potion bottle with labels saying drink me. We realised all of these are related to the novel 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'. This is our new class text.
Engage Activity: We continued our hook into learning by looking at a range of perfume bottles on images and ones brought in by our lovely staff. We learnt about the details, shapes and patterns and used these ideas to design our own.
Engage Activity: We followed up our sketching lesson by making our designs out of clay. We learnt about different techniques to use with the clay and applied these to our designs. Some children challenged themselves to make a hollow potion bottle that would be able to actually hold a potion.
W/b 09/11/2020: Children in Need Act your Age: For this challenge, Year 3 and 4 decided to bike, scoot or jog for 7/8/9 minutes each day to act their age. We had loads of fun!
13/11/2020: Children in Need: We wore non-uniform or Children in Need themed clothes and donated a £1 to Children in Need. We had a fun afternoon of Children in Need activities.
20/11/2020: Anti-Bullying Week. We learnt about a story where a bully tells their side of the story, the reasons why they became a bully. We shared our opinions on this and then made comic strips, posters or stories for Anti-Bullying week.
23/11/2020: We explored our natural environment to collect some things we would like to include in our magic potions. We combined this with warm water, tissue paper to change the colour of the potion and then added glitter.
