Learning to shine together

Year 3 transition to Year 4

Transition Week was held from Monday 11th July to Friday 15th July 2022. During the week, each class enjoyed days themed around these subjects: Number, STEM, Creativity, All About Me and English.

New Year 4 enjoyed learning 'All About Me' and I learnt all about them on Monday. We completed circle games and activities and they answered a Kahoot quiz all about Mrs Kay. After this, they made their own quizzes which we played throughout the week.

On Tuesday, we had an English day, as well as PE. We learnt about poetry, in particular, list poetry. We looked at a list poem about a person. We then made a list of things we liked and things we were good at. We used these to create a list poem.

On Wednesday, we loved our STEM day. During the day, we had many challenges. We had to build the strongest bridge using only newspaper and tape (and maybe a couple of chairs and tables to support), we had to build the highest cup tower using only cups, lollipop sticks and tape, and finally we had a balloon race.

Thursday was our creative day. We enjoyed an Art lesson with Mrs Vockins on still life. Earlier in the day, we created self-portraits, well half self-portraits and decorated these with our names.

Finally, on Friday we enjoyed a day themed around Number. We found out there had been a missing minion and we had to solve several number challenges in order to find out which minion was missing.
