Spring 2 - Gods & Mortals
Ancient Greek Olympics
As part of their Gods & Mortals topic, Year 3 learnt about the history of the Ancient Greek Olympics and took part in their own mini version, as part of a PE lesson within topic time.
Before beginning the events, a child was chosen to carry the olympic torch down to the field and smartly lead the rest of their class.
They worked in pairs, recording each others scores for the following events: shuttle runs, speed bounce, javelin and discus. Each person completed 3 attempts and took their best score from those 3.
To finish the lesson, they had the choice of taking part in a boys running race and a girls running race. The winner of each race, was awarded a crown of 'sacred olive branches' for their efforts.
