Home Learning - English

On this page, I will upload the writing topics that we would have covered if we were in school. Have a look at the features and resources to help you, plan your writing and then have a go at writing in these genres. You can send your finished pieces to me to read if you like!

WC 18/05/2020: Historical Narrative

Our next English genre is Historical Narratives. To begin this genre, we are going to try to write a gripping beginning to a story set in history. As you will know, our termly topic is 'Tribal Tales' (including the The Stone Age, The Bronze Age and The Iron Age). Please use the text below which is an extract from the beginning of the story 'Stone Age Boy' to inspire you. Can you write your own beginning to a historical story? Remember to include your main characters. Use the resources below to support your character description.

WC 11/05/2020: Fact Files

Our next English genre is fact files. Can you use the resources below to help you write a fact file about either 'The Stone Age', 'The Bronze Age' or 'The Iron Age'? You could research one of these areas and then inform us about the key things we need to know about this age in History, such as their homes, weapons, clothing, etc. You may also want to use the Topic page for information about these times in History and the Guided Reading text we covered two weeks ago.
