A message from Miss Watson

Hi Y6,

I still can't quite believe we are not spending your last half term in primary school together. This term we should be starting to put together our leavers concert, but this year that is unable to happen . I will still be putting you memories of primary school together in a video. In preparation for this, I would like you to think about the memories you have during your time in primary school. They can be of your friends, teachers and the funnier the better! Please can I ask that you email them into school to n.watson@barnburghprimary.com.

Although I am working between school and home, I have absolutely loved reading your emails, speaking to you on the phone, looking at your pictures and videos and seeing some of you in person. Even though it looks like we are staying like this for the next few weeks....please keep sending emails, photos and videos. Please remember I am here to help with your learning and to have a chat with it. If you would like to me to ring you for a chat, just ask :)

The start of this final half term will not be like any that we have had before, but it will be one that we remember forever. I am going to continue to add work to the Year 6 Home Learning Pages. On the maths page there is a link the White Rose Website. The videos support you with learning and there are worksheets for you to complete daily. Please remember, that as well as the home learning page, there is still the option to have booklets made for you to collect from school or that I can deliver to you, if this is easier for some of you. Just email me on n.watson@barnburghprimary.com if you want anything like this.

I would also like to set you an English challenge. As you know, transition will not be the same for all year groups. I think it would be amazing if you could write a letter to the year 5 children telling them all about what year 6 is like. You could include the information about the topics, some of the exciting lessons (dissect a heart), crucial crew, SATs prep (even though you didn't do them) or how to improve your score in arithmetic tests. You could give them advice and support to reassure them that Year 6 isn't as hard as what everyone thinks!

For those of you that haven't already seen, on the Covid19 tab of the school website there is a section for children as well as adults.  There is also a tab where you can see what us teachers have been getting up to during this time away from school as well.

I have my fingers crossed that soon this will all be over but until then please remember that

I AM ALWAYS HERE FOR YOU!

Lots of love,

Miss Watson x

Pentecost

The Pentecost is a Christian Holy Day celebrated 50 days after Easter that commemorates the birth of the Holy Spirit among the Apostles. The Apostles were the people who were visited by the Spirit while they were celebrating the Jewish Feast of Weeks Festival.

 Activities

  1. Look up different images of the Holy Spirit and recreate them yourself or create your own.
  2. Let's Talk! Read or listen to the Pentecost story together. How did the disciples change? How did they feel before the Holy Spirit came? How did they feel afterwards? Why was this?
  3. Reenact the story of Pentecost - perhaps you could make a little video!
