Our Current Topic

This half term our topic is Fairytale Kingdom and there will be a heavy focus on story telling.  We kick-started our topic with an exciting trip to Sundown Adventureland, which was enjoyed by all (…even the adults who seemed to get particularly soggy from the boat ride!)

Please see below for this half term's newsletter.

Key Dates - Summer 2 Half Term

  • Express Event – Tuesday 25th June 9.00-9.45am
  • Sports Day – Wednesday 3rd July 10.30-11.30am
  • Transition Week – w/c Monday 8th July
  • Last Day of Term for Pupils – Wednesday 17th July

Parental Engagement

Working in partnership with parents is central to the Early Years Foundation Stage.  Regularly discussing your child’s learning and achievements from in and out of school will enable us to have a much broader picture of your child’s development.

There are many ways in which we can share information...

  • you can speak with your child's Key Person or the class teacher
  • you can share observations on 2Simple by emailing
  • you can complete a 'Proud Moment' slip
  • we will regularly share with you your child's learning journey and share with you their next steps in learning and development

Read With Me

We would like to invite parents/carers into class to read with their child each Friday morning until 8.40am.  It would be lovely if you’re able to join us.  You can find some photos of Read With Me sessions in the gallery below.

Reception have P.E. each Tuesday afternoon and will need full P.E. kit (black shorts, white t-shirt and pumps/trainers). Please remember to label all items of clothing.

Home Learning

Children will be given two reading books to read at home each week.  In Foundation Stage, we encourage parents/carers to read with their child every day, even just for 5-10 minutes.

A small amount of phonics homework will be sent home on a Thursday with some phonemes and words to practice reading.  (See rhymes below.)

Children will also be given topic challenges to complete with you at home each half term.
