Welcome to Year 3 Teacher: Miss Cull TA: Mrs Millington
Summer 1 Newsletter
Welcome back to this short half term which is going to be filled with all sorts of exciting learning opportunities. Lets all hope for lovely weather on May 23rd which is officially Outdoor Classroom day!
We embark on our final topic for this year Tribal Tales, which sees us delving into the history of Britain and becoming experts in the Stone Age. Could I please remind you that our trip for this topic will be after the half term but we do need slips returned as soon as you are able, in order to finalise the trip which I’m sure all the children are so excited about!
Well done to the lucky winner of the Term 4 Reading challenge, who picked a fantastic new book to take home. Please support your child with reading as much as possible, after a few very enthusiastic weeks with lots of children remembering to bring their home learning in last term. However, we have now slipped to 50% being returned. I’m sure we can do so much better than this!
In Maths this half term we continue building on our understanding of fractions, and also look at time. I am very pleased to see some children are now wearing watches to school. The Key Instant Recall facts for this term are facts around time too. This will particularly help children to adjust to the new timetable!
In English, we will be writing fact files and recounts as we concentrate on layout, structure, and use of conjunctions in our writing. Thank you to all grownups who have supported their children with the extra handwriting sheets that have gone home, it is really showing in their class learning.
As during the previous term, PE is on Mondays. Please make sure that children bring their kit on Monday and take it home at the weekend. As well as this we will be continuing the Daily Mile every afternoon.
Thank you for your continued support and your feedback from the Express Event.
